Architecture Factory

The Architecture Factory is a third level architectural education, learning and research space situated in a disused split-level warehouse in Cork, Ireland. The interior architectural intervention adapts used shipping containers into lecturer offices dividing the ground floor space into 7 open plan studios. These are divided from a new mezzanine structure by a wide boulevard which functions as a live lab, exhibition and making space. The mezzanine cantilevers over this space creating online learning facilities above seminar rooms, storage, photo labs and studios bookending the enclosures.

yoshi bar 2nd

systematically pieced together using six panels of reeds, the ‘yoshi bar’ by japanese designer naoya matsumoto resembles a traditional gabled roof stall. situated at the seian university of arts and design in otsu, shiga, japan, the small shelter is held in place by the natural fibers, which are grown in biwako, shiga. the different panels are unable to stand alone, but when placed next to each other they are supported to form the intimate enclosure. offering snatched glimpses through to its interior, the sculptural piece has an enchanting quality to it.

SHADE LAMP

Who does not remember Grandma in her armchair knitting, and just beside her the old lamp with the cloth shade? Perhaps not very clearly, but it does bring back childhood memories. SHADE works without any switch, a simple touch on the “light bulb” is all it takes to dim the luminosity as you wish, or to turn it of. This innovative lamp has a true recognition value and universality; its various facets allow it to appeal to everyone. The lamp bring several generations together, past and future. Aix Arome Cafe

The Café is where visitors feel the coexistence with oceans. Huge egg shaped structure placed within middle of space is simultaneously functioning as cashier and coffee supply. Iconic appearance of the booth is inspired by dark and dull looking coffee bean. Two big openings on top-front of both sides of “big bean” serve as good source of ventilation and natural light. Café provided long table like bunch of octopuses and bubbles altogether. The seemingly randomly hanging chandeliers resemble of fishes’ view to water surface, shiny ripples absorb cozy sunlight from the wide white sky.
