Strolling House

Strolling

Strolling is a residential interior design for a suburban house in Taipei. The layout is divided into three equal parts of 115 square meters each: a garden, a public ground floor and a private bedroom level above. The staircase marks the boundary between the public and private areas. The lower section of the staircase is made of marble to suggest rock and solidity, while the upper section is made of 9 millimeter U-shaped steel plates suspended from the ceiling. Scale, form, material and shadow are used to create a quiet and comfortable space close to nature.

The Wu House

The Wu

The Wu is a private house interior designed for a family of three. The minimalist approach removes unnecessary ornaments and furniture, leaving concise lines and a closer relation between people, objects and space. European lines form the basic elements and appear both curved and straight, dynamic and static. The 145 square meter home holds a living room joined to the dining room, a reading area by the bay window, a master bedroom with bathroom, a child's room and a walk-in closet. Gray walls and a panel wall with a hidden door keep the interior calm and tidy.

The interior follows a European classical style, reinterpreted with simple geometric forms in place of traditional columns and arches. Strong black and white contrast, inspired by black and white photography, defines each room. Stainless steel, iron, glass and ceramic tile are used. Feng shui requirements guided the layout.

Beside Sacred Tree House

Beside Sacred Tree

Beside Sacred Tree is a house in Caotun, Taiwan, rebuilt from a former farmhouse. The house stands behind the Qigu sacred tree, a camphor tree that is 1600 years old. The building occupies only a quarter of the land, and the remaining area is kept green to protect the environment. The design borrows the surrounding scenery, a strategy often used in Chinese gardens. The form is simple and white, with large openings that frame different views. Wood furniture, white walls and warm floors connect the interior with the garden. Trees and sunlight cast soft shadows on the white walls.
